Summer is in full swing, temperatures are sky-high, and you need fun

ways to keep your kids cool and entertained before school starts.

These soak-tastic water games are just the thing!

Start by stocking up on these water game essentials: waterballoons, pool noodles, plastic disposable plates, a kiddy pool and lots of H2O! Everything you need can be found in your neighborhood drug or grocery store, and water from your hose works fine for these three games:

  1. Noodle Doughnut Toss: Make your typical pool noodles into foam “doughnuts” by cutting them crosswise into slices. Next, number them from 1 to 10. Float plastic plates numbered from 1 to 10 in your kiddy pool, then have your child toss the doughnuts onto the corresponding plate! Remember to cheer them on and reward them with lots of hugs and kisses when they make a “basket.”

  1. Water Balloon Toss: Grab a partner and stand across from them. Toss a water balloon back and forth, stepping further back with each toss. See how far you can make it before the balloon bursts! For a variation, consider catching the balloon in a bowl, bucket, or in a towel.

  1. Sponge Race: Take four buckets: two filled with the same amount of water and two empty ones. Give each child a large sponge (such as the kind used to wash your car) and time them to see who can transfer the water from one bucket to the next in the shortest amount of time. The winner gets to pick their favorite flavor of frozen Tampico as a prize!

Try these games out and come up with your own as well and the whole family will have lots of watery fun to last the rest of the summer.

Plus, you'll likely have the perfect ending to any summertime activity: a child who's ready for a nice, long nap.
